Organizer guide: Sending SMS messages to ticket buyers
Organizers with SMS messaging enabled can send direct texts to their customers for updates or urgent event-related information. This feature is available through the SMS campaign tab within the Customers section of your Showpass dashboard.
Access the SMS campaign feature
- Sign in to your Showpass Dashboard
- Navigate to the SMS campaign page using this URL:
https://showpass.com/manage/network/customers/sms-campaign/
This will take you to the Customers section with the SMS campaign tab selected.
Select your audience segment
Before composing your message, you will need to choose which customers will receive it. Use the Select segment dropdown to pick from your saved audience segments.
If you have not created any segments yet, you can build one from the Segments tab or by using the AI audience builder on the Customers tab. For more details, see How to use customer segmentation and AI audience building.
Don't see the SMS option?
If SMS messaging is not available on your account, you will need to request access. Submit a request to our support team and ask to have SMS messaging enabled for your organization.
Compose and send your message
Once you have selected a segment, you can write your message in the SMS message text field.
Important information about SMS pricing and formatting:
- Price per segment is $0.10
- There are approximately 160 characters per segment
- Using emojis may cause the message to be split into multiple chargeable segments before sending
- Most phones will combine separate segments into one message, so the receiver should only get one message per multiple segments
The character counter in the bottom-right corner of the text field shows your current usage out of the 1500 character maximum.
When you are ready, click Send. A confirmation screen will appear summarizing the number of messages to be sent and the total cost.
Before you send
Messages cannot be retracted once sent. Once you confirm, messages are queued for delivery and cannot be cancelled or recalled—even if a message shows as undelivered. Double-check your segment and message content before sending.
Please also keep in mind:
- Some messages may not be delivered due to duplicate or invalid phone numbers, or because the recipient has unsubscribed.
- Sending to a large audience (5,000+ recipients) may take longer to generate and deliver. As long as you see a success confirmation, your messages are being processed.
- Links can be included in your message, but they count toward the character limit and may not be tappable on all devices.
FAQs
Can I use SMS to promote an event?
No. SMS messaging must only be used for operational or event-related communication—not for marketing or promotions.
Can ticket buyers reply to these messages?
No. This is a one-way communication tool available only to organizers. Ticket buyers cannot reply or send messages through this feature.
I'm a ticket buyer and didn't receive a text. Can support resend it?
Showpass Support does not have access to resend SMS messages. Please reach out directly to the event organizer through the event page or use the Request Form.
How do I choose which customers receive my SMS?
You select a saved segment from the dropdown on the SMS campaign tab. Segments are created using the Customers or Segments tabs, where you can use the AI audience builder or manual filters to define your audience. The segment you select is the audience that will receive your message.
