Organizer guide: Setting passwords for events and ticket types
As an Organizer, you can password protect your entire event or specific ticket types. This feature allows you to control access, facilitate pre-sales, or limit tickets to select Ticket Buyers.
Password protecting an event
To add a password at the event level:
- Create and save your event.
- Click Edit on your event from the dashboard.
- Select the Advanced Options tab.
- Click Add Password.
A pop-up will appear prompting you to enter the following information:
- Password: The code Ticket Buyers must enter to access your event.
- Password Start Date & Time: When the password protection will begin.
- Password End Date & Time: When the password protection will end.
- No End Date & Time: Check this box to require the password for the entire on-sale period.
- Ticket Types (optional): Specify which ticket types the password grants access to. Leave blank to allow access to all ticket types.
Click Save to apply the password settings.
From the Advanced Options screen, you can:
- Edit an existing password
- Disable password protection
- Add multiple passwords
Important: Be sure to save your event after making any changes.
What Ticket Buyers will see
When a Ticket Buyer visits your password-protected event page, they will see a prompt to enter a password. Once they enter the correct password, they will be able to view the event details and purchase tickets as normal.
Password protecting a ticket type
To add a password to an individual ticket type:
- Ensure your event is created and saved.
- Click Edit on your event and navigate to the Ticket Types tab.
- Click the gear icon beside the ticket type you wish to protect.
- In the pop-up window, select Password and then Add Password.
You will be prompted to enter:
- Password: The code required to purchase the ticket.
- Password Start Date & Time and End Date & Time: Control when the password is active.
- No End Date & Time: Check this box to keep the password active indefinitely.
- Optionally, toggle the password on or off from the same pop-up.
Click Next to apply the settings.
What Ticket Buyers will see
If a password is set on a ticket type, Ticket Buyers will be prompted to enter it after clicking the Buy Tickets button. Once they enter the correct password, they can proceed to select the ticket quantity and check out as usual.
