Organizer guide: Fee calculation update (effective February 17, 2026)
As of February 17, 2026, Showpass is making a small, behind-the-scenes update to how fees and taxes are calculated. Most organizers will not notice any day-to-day changes.
What changed
-
Before: fees and taxes were calculated at the item type level (grouped by the same ticket type or product).
Example: all “Adult Ticket” items in a purchase were treated as one group for fee calculation. - Now: fees and taxes are calculated at the individual item level (each ticket or product line item is calculated independently), then added together.
Why you might notice a small difference
In some price combinations, rounding can land slightly differently when calculations happen per item instead of per item type. If you run the same event year over year and compare totals, you may see a small variance (often a few cents). This is expected, and it does not indicate a fee rate change.
Simple example where totals differ slightly
Two tickets priced at $10.25 each, with a 5% fee.
Before (item type level)
• Group total (same ticket type): $20.50
• Fee: $20.50 × 5% = $1.025 → $1.03
Now (individual item level)
• Ticket 1 fee: $10.25 × 5% = $0.5125 → $0.51
• Ticket 2 fee: $10.25 × 5% = $0.5125 → $0.51
• Total fee: $1.02
Result: a $0.01 difference due to rounding at the individual item level.
What this means for you
- Fees and taxes will be calculated more consistently across mixed purchases.
- You may see minor rounding differences when comparing historical totals to new totals.
- Ticket buyer workflows like purchases, refunds, and exchanges are not impacted.
