How to use customer segmentation and AI audience building
This guide shows you how to find, segment, and activate your audience using the Customers tool in your Showpass Dashboard. You can build lists manually, use AI to generate smart segments, and save audiences for future email or SMS campaigns.
Where to find it
- In your Showpass Dashboard, go to Customers
- Direct link: https://www.showpass.com/dashboard/venues/users/#/customers
What changed in the customers area
⭐ Before (old customers tab)
- Primarily a basic customer list and search
- No built-in segmentation workflows
- No AI-assisted audience creation
- Limited tooling for reusable targeting and campaign-ready audiences
⭐ Now (current customers tab)
- AI-assisted audience building, describe who you want in plain language
- Filters for more precise targeting
- Saved segments you can reuse anytime
- Built-in pathways to run Email campaign and SMS campaign workflows from the same area
Optional: Add your “old CRM” screenshot here for comparison.

Page layout at a glance
- Customer list (left), shows the people included in your current audience
- Top tabs, Customers, Segments, SMS campaign, Email campaign, Ratings
- Right panel, AI chat and Filters used to build and refine audiences
Build an audience using AI
The AI co-pilot lets you describe the audience you want, then generates the targeting for you.
- Open the Chat panel on the right
- Type who you want to reach in plain language
- Click Generate
- Review the updated audience size and customer list
Example prompts you can copy
- “People who attended over a year ago but have not purchased since.”
- “Loyal attendees who have attended at least three events in the last two years and spent over $300.”
- “Early buyers who purchased within three days of the event going on sale.”
Refine an audience with filters
If you need more control, you can adjust the audience using filters.
- Click Filters in the right panel
- Add or adjust conditions to narrow your audience
- Watch the customer list update as you refine
When to use filters
- When the audience must match a specific rule or criteria
- When you want to validate and tighten an AI-generated audience
- When you need a repeatable, consistent segment definition
Save a segment for reuse
Once your audience looks right, save it as a segment so you can reuse it later.
- Click the Segments tab
- Select Save segment
- Name the segment clearly so teammates understand what it includes
Run a campaign using a saved or current audience
After you build an audience, you can immediately take action.
- For email, click Email campaign and follow the on-screen steps
- For SMS, click SMS campaign and follow the on-screen steps
Tip: The audience shown on the Customers page is the audience that will be targeted when you start a campaign from this area.
Best practices
- Start broad with AI, then narrow with filters
- Save segments you plan to use again, especially for recurring sends
- Use segment names that describe the rule, not the intent, for example “Early buyers, 0 to 3 days”
- Spot check the customer list before sending a campaign
Troubleshooting
- The audience looks too small: Broaden your prompt, remove one filter at a time, then regenerate
- The audience looks too large: Add one more constraint, like date range, purchase count, or spend threshold
- AI results feel off: Reword your prompt with concrete criteria, then refine with filters
