Organizer guide: How to absorb Showpass fees into ticket prices for door sales

This guide explains how to absorb Showpass fees—along with any custom fees or taxes—into your ticket price for Box Office or cash sales. This allows you to offer a flat rate to ticket buyers (e.g., $10 total with no added charges), which is especially helpful for on-the-spot or cash purchases.

Note: These steps are only necessary if you do not already absorb Showpass fees for online sales.

Important: Showpass fees will still be deducted from your event payout. For example, if the ticket price is $10 and the Showpass fee is $2, your payout will be $8.

Steps to absorb fees into a ticket price

1. Create a new ticket type

  • Name it something like “door” or “cash” to clearly label it for in-person sales.
  • Set visibility to Sellers Only so it doesn’t appear online.

2. Save the event

  • This step enables editing of the ticket type’s financial settings.

3. Reopen the event editor

  • Find the new ticket type you just created.

4. Access advanced settings

  • Click the gear icon (⚙) next to the ticket type name.
  • In the pop-up window, navigate to the Finance tab.

5. Adjust fee settings

  • Under Showpass Fees, select Absorb Showpass Fees from the dropdown.
  • Click Next to save your changes.

6. Save the event again

  • Make sure to save all changes so the settings take effect in the Box Office.

Once completed, the Box Office will show a flat $10 ticket price with no extra fees displayed to the buyer, even though those fees are still deducted from your payout.

Tips for managing in-person ticket types

  • Set all other ticket types to Public Only to ensure door staff selects the correct in-person ticket.
  • If you’ve added custom fees or taxes, consider enabling “Absorb Fees” for those as well to maintain simple pricing.

Important limitation

You can only adjust fee absorption settings on ticket types before any sales have occurred. If tickets have already been sold, you’ll need to create a new ticket type to apply this change.

FAQs

Can I change fee settings after tickets are sold?
No. You must create a new ticket type if sales have already been made on the original one.

Will absorbing fees show differently in reports?
No. Reports will still show the gross ticket price and deducted fees separately, even if they were absorbed.

What happens if I forget to save the event again?
Your fee changes won’t take effect. Always click “Save Event” after updating any ticket settings.
