The Square Tap Reader is a wireless device that accepts debit and credit card payments by tap or insert. Tap Readers have their own battery and don't need to be plugged in at all times.
Pair your Tap Reader directly inside the Showpass app. Card payments happen entirely inside the Showpass app, no app switching required.
Pair via the Showpass app
- Open the Showpass app on your iPad.
- Enter Point of Sale.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Square integration.
- Ensure Use in app payment processing is toggled on.
- Select Square Reader.
- Tap Pair a Reader.
- Follow the prompts to finish pairing your Square device with the Showpass app.
Before you begin
Make sure your Square Reader has battery. If the lights don't turn on, press and hold the reader's button for a full 20 seconds, or connect the reader to a power source until it charges.
Hardware
Square Tap Readers can be purchased through Square directly or at most electronics retailers. They are compatible with the older Square Stand models used by Showpass. Newer Square Stand models come with a built-in card reader.
