Kiosk mode (iPad)
Kiosk mode lets ticket buyers purchase tickets on a dedicated iPad, without staff helping at the device. After each purchase, the kiosk automatically returns to the start screen, ready for the next ticket buyer.
Important: Kiosk mode currently works on iPad only. It is not available on desktop, laptop, or Android devices.
Getting started
Before you begin
- Install the Showpass App on an iPad from the Apple App Store.
- Confirm permissions, the ticket seller account must have Box Office Sale permissions.
- Create a manager access PIN so you can exit kiosk mode when needed.
Manager access PIN (required)
You will need a manager access PIN to exit kiosk mode.
Create or view your access PIN
Guided Access mode (recommended)
Put the iPad in Guided Access mode so ticket buyers cannot exit the Showpass app or change device settings.

- The device must have a PIN code set up for Guided Access to work.
Open the Dashboard in the app
- Open the Showpass app and sign in.
- Select the main menu (top-left).
- Select Dashboard.
- If you have access to multiple venues, select the venue you want to run the kiosk for.
Set up Square integration
A Square account is required for kiosk payments.
Set up a Square account
- Visit Square’s website to create an account.
- Note: Only Square-approved hardware is supported. Other payment terminals are not compatible.
Link Showpass to Square
- In the Showpass Dashboard, go to Integrations.
- Select Connect Square account.
- You will be redirected to Square to log in.
- Log in using either the client’s Square credentials or the Showpass Square credentials (whichever applies).
Square hardware
- Use Square hardware for compatibility, as shown below.
Enable the built-in Square card reader
- Ensure the iPad is correctly inserted into the Square hardware and connected to power.
- Open the Square app.
- Go to Settings → Square Reader.
- Confirm the built-in reader is connected and updated.
Accessing the kiosk
Kiosk mode lives inside the app’s Point of Sale area.
- In the Showpass app, go to Box Office.
- Select Settings (bottom right).
- Select Kiosk mode.
- Select Enter kiosk mode.

Turn on Guided Access
After kiosk mode is running, enable Guided Access so ticket buyers cannot leave the kiosk.

- On iPad with Face ID, triple-click the top button.
- On iPad with a Home button, triple-click the Home button.
- If you want parts of the screen to stop responding to touch, circle those areas, then adjust as needed.
- Select Start.
Purchasing tickets
Start screen
- The purchase journey starts on the Touch to start screen.
- After a purchase is complete, the kiosk automatically returns here.
- The ticket buyer selects Touch to start to begin.

Event selection
- Available events are displayed for selection.
- For multi-day events, a timeline at the top lets ticket buyers scroll between dates.

Ticket quantity
- The ticket buyer selects the ticket quantity.
- This helps load relevant ticket options and availability.

Time slot selection (if applicable)
- If the event uses time slots, the ticket buyer selects a time slot before continuing.

Item selection
- Select the ticket type and quantity.
- Select Continue to proceed.

Optional add-ons
- If the event offers add-ons, ticket buyers can add items to their cart.
- This step is optional.
- Select Continue to proceed.

Checkout
Delivery method
- Select Email or Text message delivery.
- Printed tickets are not supported in kiosk mode.
- For text delivery, the ticket buyer needs cellular service.
- For email delivery, the ticket buyer needs internet access to retrieve tickets.
Cart overview
- The ticket buyer can remove items from the cart.
- The ticket buyer can go back to edit ticket selections or add-ons.
- The ticket buyer can update the email address or phone number before completing checkout.
Payment
- Select Checkout to begin payment.
- The kiosk will switch from the Showpass app to the Square payment screen.
- The ticket buyer will be prompted to tap or insert their card.
- After a successful payment, the ticket buyer is returned to Showpass and shown a confirmation screen.
Confirmation
- The confirmation screen shows where the tickets were sent.
- After confirmation, the kiosk returns to the Touch to start screen.
Exiting kiosk mode
- Select the Lock icon in the top corner of the kiosk.
- Enter a manager access PIN to exit kiosk mode.
Where to find or set the access PIN
- Go to showpass.com/manage/account/access-pin/
- Only accounts with access to the PIN can use it to exit kiosk mode.
- Employee role access for viewing the PIN is managed in the Showpass Dashboard on the Employees page.
Exit Guided Access mode
- Triple-click the top button or Home button.
- Enter the Guided Access passcode, then select End.
- If Touch ID or Face ID is enabled for Guided Access, you can use it instead of the passcode.

Limitations
- Printed ticket delivery is not available.
- Cash is not accepted.
- Ticket buyers must have cellular service to receive tickets by text message.
FAQs
Can I print tickets from the kiosk?
No. Kiosk mode supports email and text message delivery only.
What happens if the ticket buyer enters the wrong email or phone number?
They can go back and correct the delivery details before completing checkout.
What payment methods are supported?
The kiosk supports tap and insert card payments through Square.
Can a transaction be refunded?
Refunds must be processed through Showpass. Refunds are not offered directly on the kiosk.
