Organizer guide: Setting up a BOCA printer on Windows or Mac

You can connect a BOCA thermal printer to a computer running either Windows or macOS. Follow the steps for your operating system below to get started.

Windows PC setup

Prerequisites

• Administrator privileges on your Windows PC
• Internet access
• Do not connect the printer via USB until instructed

Step 1: Download the driver

• Visit the BOCA Systems support page.
• Download the Windows ZIP driver package.

Step 2: Extract the driver files

• Locate the downloaded Boca_Systems.zip in your Downloads folder.
• Right-click and select Extract All.
• Open the BocaPrinterDrivers folder inside the extracted files.

Step 3: Install the driver

• Right-click Install_Drv.exe and select Run as administrator.
• Allow permissions if prompted.

Step 4: Connect your printer

• Connect the printer via USB and power it on.

• Windows should detect and install the printer automatically.
• Go to Printers & Scanners to confirm it's listed.

• Set orientation to Landscape in Printer Preferences if applicable.

Step 5: Configure in Showpass

• In the Showpass app, go to Settings -> Printer.
• Select the BOCA printer from the Thermal Printer dropdown.

Step 6: Test printing

• In Showpass, go to Transactions.
• Select a transaction and choose Reprint all tickets.

• Select a thermal template and print.

Troubleshooting

• Ensure the BOCA certificate is added to the Trusted Publishers store.
• Capture a screenshot of your Printers & Scanners dialog if contacting BOCA support.

macOS setup

Prerequisites

• Administrator privileges on your Mac
• Internet access
• Ensure your printer uses the FGL protocol
• Do not connect the printer via USB until instructed

Step 1: Download the driver

• Visit the BOCA Systems support page.
• Download the macOS driver for your OS version (Catalina or Big Sur and above).

• Driver for Catalina and Older Systems (Version 3.10)
• Driver for Big Sur and Higher Systems (Version 3.3.0)

Step 2: Install the driver

• Double-click the downloaded package and follow the installation prompts.
• Accept the license agreement and enter your macOS password if prompted.

Step 3: Connect your printer

• Connect the BOCA printer via USB and power it on.

• The printer should appear in Printers & Scanners.

• Go to Options & Supplies and set the rotation to match your ticket stock orientation.

Step 4: Configure in Showpass

• Open the Showpass app and go to Settings -> Printer.
• Select the BOCA printer under Thermal Printer.

Step 5: Test printing

• Go to Transactions in Showpass.
• Select a transaction, click View more, then Reprint all tickets.

• Select a thermal template and print.
