Ticket buyer guide: How to join a waitlist for a sold-out event
Missed your chance to grab tickets to a sold-out event? If the event organizer has enabled waitlists, you can join the list and be first in line when tickets become available again!
Before you begin
- Waitlists are only available if the event organizer has enabled them.
- If an event is sold out and you don’t see a “Join Waitlist” button, a waitlist is not available for that event.
- Some events may require payment information at the time of joining the waitlist—check the instructions on screen carefully.
How to join a waitlist
- Go to the event’s ticketing page on Showpass.
- If all ticket types are sold out, a Join Waitlist button will appear on the event detail page.
- If only some ticket types are sold out:
- Click Buy Tickets to view available and sold-out ticket types.
- Click Join Waitlist next to the sold-out ticket type.
- Select the number of tickets you wish to request.
- Click Join Waitlist.
If payment is required:
- Enter your payment information during the waitlist submission process.
- Your card will be charged only if tickets become available and are successfully issued to you.
After completing the waitlist process, you'll receive a confirmation email and see a confirmation screen.
How to manage your waitlist entries
You can view and manage your waitlist status at any time:
- Log into your Showpass account and go to the Waitlists tab in your dashboard.
- Here you can:
- View your place on the waitlist.
- Leave the waitlist if you no longer want to wait for tickets.
Waitlist status meanings
- Pending (Yellow): You're on the waitlist; the system is waiting for more tickets.
- Complete (Green): Your card was charged, and tickets have been sent to your inbox.
- Cancelled (Red): You left the waitlist or the event ended before any tickets were issued.
Troubleshooting or FAQs
Why don’t I see a waitlist option?
The organizer may not have enabled waitlists for that event or ticket type.
Can I update my payment info after joining?
Currently, payment updates must be managed through your account dashboard or by leaving and rejoining the waitlist with the correct info.
How do I know if I’ve been issued tickets?
You will receive a confirmation email and see your waitlist status marked as Complete once your ticket is confirmed.
