Organizer guide: Creating and managing ticket credits

Alternative article title (internal): How organizers can create ticket credits for future event redemption

Ticket credits allow Ticket Buyers to pre-purchase tickets that can be redeemed later for select events. These are especially useful for flex passes, seasonal packages, or promotional sales. As the Organizer, you control which events and ticket types are eligible for redemption.

Step 1: Create the ticket credit event

To sell ticket credits, start by setting up an event in your dashboard. This is the "credit event" that buyers will purchase from. Use the standard event creation workflow.

Important: If a Ticket Buyer should be able to purchase more than one credit (e.g., two credits for a future show), you must enable "Require Guest Info for Each Ticket" on this credit event. This ensures each credit is individually tied to a person.

If you want ticket credits to allow group redemption (e.g., multiple tickets to the same event), contact your Client Success Manager or submit a Request Form to have multiple credit redemptions enabled on your account.

Disable PDF confirmation (optional)

If you don’t want ticket buyers to receive a barcode or ticket immediately:

  • Go to the Ticket Types section of your event
  • Select the gear icon on the ticket type

  • Click Notifications from the top menu

  • Check "Exclude in Purchase Confirmation Email" and save

This prevents premature delivery of unusable tickets. Ticket credits must be redeemed before generating a valid entry ticket.

Step 2: Create the ticket credit

In your dashboard, go to Ticket Credits and click New Ticket Credit.

Under Events Added, search for and select the credit event you just created. The available ticket types will appear.

Enter the number of credits to be issued for each ticket type. You can create multiple ticket types if you want to offer varying credit amounts.

Step 4: Enable redemption events (optional)

If the future events for redemption are already created:

  • Go to Events Enabled
  • Search and select the future events the credits should apply to

  • Click the red X to enable the event

  • Click the green checkmark beside any ticket types you don’t want to be eligible

Click Save once you’ve configured everything.

If you don’t have the redemption events set up yet, save your progress and let buyers know when future events are published and ready for redemption.
