Introduction

Getting Started with the Showpass Point of sale
Downloading the Showpass app for iOS
Logging In
- Open the app and select the menu in the top left hand corner of the screen.
- Enter your Showpass credentials on the next page to log in.
Accessing the Dashboard
- Select the menu in the top left hand corner again and select Dashboard to access the event organizer section of the app.
Selecting your Organization
- If you manage multiple organizations, choose the correct one from the list. Use the search function to quickly find it if needed.
Enter the Box Office
- From the Dashboard menu, select Point of sale to enter the Point of Sale function of the app.
Selling from the POS
Event and Item Selection
- Begin by selecting the event from the list. Events are displayed in upcoming order, including recurring events.
- Once you've chosen the correct event, select the ticket types based on the guest’s request.
- Review the cart along the right side of the screen to confirm the selected tickets and quantities.
- Select Continue.
Calendar View
- Select the calendar icon to enter event selection in calendar view.
Taking Payment
Select the guest’s preferred payment method.
Card
- Process the payment using the integrated Square reader or the independent Square read via Bluetooth.
Cash
- Choose from preset cash amounts or manually enter a custom amount.
- The amount of change due is displayed in bottom right corner.
- In Canada, cash payments will round to the nearest $0.05.
- If the total exceeds a preset amount, that preset will be disabled. Only preset amounts higher than the total will be displayed.
- Reporting will reflect only the transaction total—not the cash received or change provided.
- Example: If a $50 ticket is purchased with $80 cash, reporting will show a $50 cash sale, not the $80 received or $30 in change.
Select Checkout to move on to Ticket and Receipt Delivery.
Complimentary
Use the Comp option to issue free tickets. No payment will be processed.
- Select Process to move on to Ticket and Receipt Delivery.
Other
Choose Other as an alternative payment option.
- Staff members need to make sure that the payment type is collected on the external terminal, or other method before processing in our system.
Ticket and Receipt Delivery
Choose how the guest will receive their tickets and receipt (Email, Print or None):
Email
- Enter an email address to send digital tickets and a receipt for the email option.
Print
- If either the ticket or receipt option is selected for printing, your item will be printed. Please ensure a printer is connected before the print button becomes clickable.
None
- If none delivery is required you can continue to Complete Transaction.
Confirmation Screen
- After checkout, the app stays on the same event so you can quickly process the next sale. Need to switch events? Just tap ‘Back’ to return to the event list.
Auto Check-in
If you’d like tickets to be considered scanned in at the time of purchase, follow these steps.
- Select Settings from the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
- Choose ˙Auto checkin from the menu on the lefthand side of the screen.
- Toggle Auto checkin on or off as desired.
- Tickets will remain unscanned if un-toggled.
- Tickets will be reflected as scanned, if toggled.
- This does not affect pervious purchases that had happened prior to turning on this configuration.
Transactions
- To view your Transactions history, click Transactions along the bottom menu.
- Utilize the search function to find specific transactions.
- Selecting a transaction will show you the transaction details where you can resend the email confirmation, adjust the check-in status or process a refund.
Resending the Email Confirmation
- On the Transaction select the menu icon that is above the Transaction ID.
- Click Email from the menu.
- Enter in the email to resend the confirmation to and Send.
Check-in tickets
- In the transactions menu, select Check in.
- Choose which items you’d like to check in and select the items box.
- Click on Check in items.
- You can also undo a check in with the Undo check in button.
Refunds
- On the Transaction select the menu icon that is above the Transaction ID.
- Click Refund.
- A popup will appear asking for your Access pin. Once entered successfully you can continue to process the payment.
- Confirm the refund in the pop up modal by selecting Process refund.
Cashout Report
- The Cashout report is seller-specific, so you'll need to be signed in as the intended seller to access their report. Each report reflects only the activity of the seller currently logged in.
- Select Transactions from the bottom menu.
- In the top right corner select the Reports icon. This will open the Cashout report popup.
- Choose your date parameters for the Cashout Report as well as your delivery method.
- If selecting Email cashout, the report will send to the user currently logged in.
A confirmation will pop up in the top left hand corner of the page.

Follow the instructions below on connecting to a the Square Tap Reader included with your Square stand.
Connecting to a Square Tap Reader
The Square Tap Reader is a wireless device that accepts both debit and credit card payments, either by inserting or tapping, depending on the provider. It's compatible with older versions of the Square Stand used by Showpass. They have their own battery so don’t need to be plugged in at all times. Tap readers can be purchased online or at most electronic stores, like London Drugs.
Prepare the Square Tap Reader
- Turn on Bluetooth on your device.

- On iOS 13, ensure Bluetooth permissions for the Square app are enabled: Go to Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth and enable Square.
- Fully charge your Square Tap Reader.
- Ensure your device is connected to the internet (Offline Mode will prevent pairing).
Force Shutdown the Square Reader (if needed):
- Plug the reader in for 20 minutes to charge.
- Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds (using a pen, bobby pin, or paperclip).
- After 10 seconds, release the button, then press it again to turn the reader on.
- If the lights turn green, it’s ready to pair. If not, repeat the process.
Using Square Dock in the Square Stand (if applicable):
- Simply insert the reader into the Square Dock—it will automatically pair with your device.
Pair via Bluetooth:
- Press and hold the power button on the reader until you see 4 orange blinking lights.
- Immediately release the button when the lights blink.
- Open the Square app on your device.
- Pair your Square Reader through the Square App

- In the Square app, go to More > Settings > Hardware.
- Tap on Square Reader and then select Connect.

- If successfully paired, you’ll see a confirmation message.
Connecting a Printer
Prepare the Printer
- Turn off the printer. Ensure the printer is powered off before starting.
- Plug in the power cable. Connect the printer to a power source.
- Turn on the printer. Press the power button and wait for it to initialize.
Connect the Printer to the iPad
Open Settings on the iPad.
Tap Bluetooth and turn it On.
Under "Other Devices," look for "Star MCP31LB" , a similar name.
Tap the printer to pair it with the iPad.
Once connected, it should move to "My Devices" and show "Connected."
Set Up in the Showpass App
- Navigate to Settings > Printers.
- Press Refresh this will refresh the menu to help identity the printer.
- Select Star MCP31LB from the available devices.
Connecting a Cash Drawer
Note: A printer is required for the cash drawer to function
- Cash drawer. Connect the cash drawer the Star MCP31LB printer
- Plug in Printer. Ensure the cable is connected in the correct orientation.
Limitations
- Not compatible with Custom Questions.
- Not compatible with assigned seating events.
Troubleshooting
- Update the App – Check for updates in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
- Refresh the App – Close and reopen to load the latest event edits.
- Check Internet Speed – Run a speed test; slow connections can affect performance.
- Verify Permissions – Ensure the logged-in user has box office sales access under employee settings.
