How to Set Up BOCA Printer to a Windows PC

Prerequisites

Before starting the installation, make sure you have the following:
  • Administrator privileges: Most Windows systems require this to download and install drivers.
  • Internet access: Required to download the necessary drivers from the Microsoft website.
Important: If connecting the printer to your computer via USB, do not connect the printer until instructed.

Step 1: Download the Boca Driver

  1. Click on this link to visit the Boca Systems support page: Download Boca Systems Driver.
  2. Locate the Driver: On the support page, find the section for Windows drivers. You should see a link to download the driver package for Windows.
  3. Download the ZIP File: Click on the link for your Windows version (typically 64-bit). The download should start automatically, saving the file as Boca_Systems.zip in your Downloads folder.

Step 2: Extract the Driver Files

  1. Open the File Explorer by clicking on the Start icon or the File Explorer icon on your taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Downloads folder and locate the Boca_Systems.zip file.
  3. Right-click on the ZIP file and select Extract All....
  4. Choose the destination folder (you can leave it as default) and click Extract.
  5. Once the files are extracted, double-click on the Boca_Systems folder, then open the BocaPrinterDrivers folder.

Step 3: Install the Driver

  1. Inside the BocaPrinterDrivers folder, locate the Install_Drx.exe file.
  2. Right-click on Install_Drv.exe and select Run as administrator.

  3. Click Yes when prompted by the User Account Control (UAC).
  4. The installation will clean out old files. Once it completes, proceed to the next step.

Step 4: Connect Your Printer

USB Connection

  1. Do not connect the USB cable until instructed. Once the driver installation is complete, connect the USB cable from your printer to your computer and turn on the printer.

  2. Windows will automatically detect the printer and install the necessary drivers.
  3. Go to Printers & Scanners in the Control Panel to confirm that the Boca printer is listed.

  4. Once you see that it is listed, you’ll have to change the print orientation if your tickets are landscape.
    • Click on the Boca printer and navigate to Printer Preferences.

    • Change the Orientation to Landscape from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Configure the Printer in Showpass

  1. Open Showpass App to configure the Boca Printer selected for Thermal printing.
  2. In the Showpass app, locate the Settings Tab and Navigate to Printer on the left sidebar.
  3. Click the Thermal Printer and make sure to select the Boca Printer from the drop-down menu.

Step 6: Test the Printer

    1. Open the Showpass App:
      • Launch the Showpass app on your PC.
    2. Navigate to the Transactions Tab:
      • In the Showpass app, go to the Transactions tab.
    3. Select a Transaction:
      • Choose a transaction from the list. Click on View more next to the transaction and select "Reprint all tickets."

    4. Select Thermal Template
      • Choose a thermal from the drop-down menu and click print.

Troubleshooting

  • If you encounter issues, ensure that the Boca Certificate was correctly added to the Trusted Publishers store.
  • If problems persist, take a screenshot of the “Printers & Scanners” dialog and attach it to the Boca Systems Support Form.

How to Set Up BOCA Printer to a MacOS PC

Prerequisites

Before starting the installation, ensure you have the following:
  • Administrator privileges: Required to download and install drivers on macOS.
  • Internet access: Required to download the necessary drivers from the Boca Systems website.
  • Confirm printer protocol: Ensure that your printer uses the FGL protocol, as BOCA MAC print drivers are designed only for FGL protocol printers. You can confirm this by printing a self-test ticket (FGL will be shown if compatible).
Important: If connecting the printer to your computer via USB, do not connect the printer until instructed.

Step 1: Download the Boca Driver

  1. Visit the Boca Systems Support Page: Click on one of the following links to download the appropriate driver for your macOS version:
  2. Download the Driver: The selected driver file will be downloaded to your Downloads folder. A package icon may appear in front of the folder.

Step 2: Install the Driver

  1. Locate the Downloaded File: Go to your Downloads folder and double-click on the downloaded package file (e.g., boca_bidi_drivers_signed_3_1.pkg for Catalina or boca_drivers_big_sur.pkg for Big Sur).
  2. Begin Installation: Follow the on-screen prompts:
    • Click Continue through the introduction screens.
    • Click Agree to accept the software license agreement.
    • Click Install to begin the installation.
  3. Enter Administrator Credentials: If prompted, enter your macOS administrator username and password, then click OK.
  4. Complete the Installation: Once the installation is complete, click Close.

Step 3: Connect Your Printer

USB Connection

  1. Connect the Printer: Connect the USB cable from your printer to your Mac and power on the printer.

  2. Automatically Install the Driver: The correct print driver should automatically install. You will see an image of a small BOCA printer in the Printers & Scanners menu if the installation was successful.

  3. Once you see that it is listed, you’ll have to change the print orientation depending if your ticketstock are landscape or portrait.
    • Click on the Boca printer and navigate to Options & Supplies.

Step 4: Configure the Printer in Showpass

  1. Open Showpass App to configure the Boca Printer selected for Thermal printing.
  2. In the Showpass app, locate the Settings Tab and Navigate to Printer on the left sidebar.
  3. Click the Thermal Printer and make sure to select the Boca Printer from the drop-down menu.
