How to Set Up Star Micronics MC Print-3 to a Windows PC

Step 1: Connect the Printer to Your PC

  1. Connect via USB:
    • Connect the printer to your PC using the provided USB cable. Plug one end of the cable into the printer and the other end into an available USB port on your PC.

      A - Printer-side plug - USB-B
      B - Device-side plug - USB-A or standard cable for the device you are using

  2. Power On the Printer:
    • Turn on the printer using the power button.

Step 2: Install Printer Drivers and Software

  1. Download Driver:
    • Download the latest drivers from the Star Micronics website:
      • Go to the Star Micronics support page.
      • Search for the MC Print-3 model and download the Star Windows Software Full Driver for Windows

  2. Decompress the downloaded software, and execute "setup.exe":
    • Locate the downloaded driver file and run the installer.

    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Step 3: Configure the Printer

  1. Open Devices and Printers:
    • On your PC, open the Control Panel and go to "Devices and Printers."
  2. Add a Printer:
    • Click on "Add a printer" and follow the wizard to add the Star Micronics MC Print-3. If the printer is not automatically detected, choose the "The printer that I want isn't listed" option and follow the prompts to manually add the printer using the installed drivers.

  3. Set as Default Printer:
      • Once the printer is added, you can set it as the default printer by right-clicking on it and selecting "Set as default printer."
  4. Verify that the Printer is Detected in Showpass App:
      • Head over to the Settings tab and ensure it is recognized.

Step 4: Test the Printer

  1. Open the Showpass App:
    • Launch the Showpass app on your PC.
  2. Navigate to the Transactions Tab:
    • In the Showpass app, go to the Transactions tab.
  3. Select a Transaction:
    • Choose a transaction from the list. Click on the three dots (more options) next to the transaction and select "Reprint Receipt."

Step 2: Install Printer Drivers and Software

  1. Download Drivers:
    • Download the latest drivers from the Star Micronics website:
  2. Decompress the downloaded software, and execute "Star_CUPS_Driver-x.xx.x.pkg"
    • Locate the downloaded driver file and run the .pkg installer.

Step 3: Configure the Printer Default

  1. Open Printers & Scanners:
    • On your PC, open the Settings and go to Printers & Scanners tab.
  2. Set as Default Printer:
      • Once you’re in the Printers & Settings tab, set it as the default printer by clicking on Default Printer dropdown and select the printer model.

  3. Verify that the Printer is Detected in Showpass App:
      • Head over to the Settings tab and ensure it is recognized.

Step 4: Test the Printer

  1. Open the Showpass App:
    • Launch the Showpass app on your PC.
  2. Navigate to the Transactions Tab:
    • In the Showpass app, go to the Transactions tab.
  3. Select a Transaction:
