Organizer guide: Order barcode check-in for guest transactions

Our Order Barcode feature streamlines guest check-in by generating a single QR code for all items in a transaction. This replaces multiple PDFs or tickets and speeds up entry, especially for group purchases. Unlike Showpass’s Universal QR code, this does not require a ticket buyer to have a Showpass account and supports guest checkout.

How it works

When this feature is enabled for your organization:

  • Each new transaction will generate a single QR code that covers all items within the order.
  • The QR code is included in the purchase confirmation email sent to the ticket buyer.
  • At check-in, scanning this one QR code allows your staff to check in all items in the order, or select which to redeem.

Example: A family purchases 2x Adult GA and 2x Youth GA tickets. Instead of managing 4 individual tickets, they present one QR code. All 4 guests can be admitted at once.

Steps to enable

  • Submit a request to have Order Barcodes enabled for your organization by filling out this support form.
  • Once enabled, all new transactions for your events will automatically include the Order Barcode in confirmation emails.

Event day check-in process

  • Guests open the confirmation email on their mobile device at the entrance.

  • Staff scan the single QR code from the email using the Showpass app or a compatible scanner.
  • The staff member can then choose to redeem all tickets in the order or select specific items.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

What if a guest can’t find their confirmation email?
They can search their inbox for "Showpass" or check their spam folder. You can also look up the order using their email or name in your Dashboard.

Can I still use individual ticket barcodes?
Yes. The Order Barcode adds convenience but does not replace individual ticket barcodes. Guests may still present individual PDFs or mobile tickets if preferred.

Does this work with assigned seating?
Yes. The QR code includes all ticket types within the order, including assigned seating.
