Migrate to Google Analytics 4 for your Showpass assets to continue measuring your event performance.
Showpass offers a complete Google Analytics 4 integration with Enhanced Ecommerce tracking compatibility with cross domain tracking.
To set up these features to their full capabilities, you will need full access to your Google Analytics 4 property.
Check for an existing GA4 property
To get started with GA4, you need a GA4 property. In March 2023, Google may have automatically created a GA4 property for you based on your Universal Analytics configuration.
To verify whether you already have an existing GA4 property connected to your UA property:
- In Google Analytics, click “Admin” (lower left)
- In the Account column, make sure that your desired account is selected. (If you only have one Google Analytics account, it's already selected.)
- In the Property column, select the Universal Analytics property that currently collects data for your organization on Showpass.
- In the Property column, click GA4 Setup Assistant. It's the first option in the Property column.
If you see “Connected Property” and a button that says “Disconnect”, this means that you already have an existing GA4 property and that it is connected to your UA. You can skip creating a new GA4 property and proceed to “Add your Measurement ID” below.
If you do not see “Connected Property” or a button that says “Disconnect”, proceed to “Create a new GA4 Property” below.
Create a new GA4 Property (for existing UA configurations)
If you are new to Google Analytics and have never setup analytics before, please follow our "Installing Google Analytics 4" documentation.
If you have previously configured a Universal Analytics property and are currently using it on your organization(s) on Showpass, you may use the GA4 Setup Assistant available on Google Analytics:
- In Google Analytics, click “Admin” (lower left)
- In the Account column, make sure that your desired account is selected. (If you only have one Google Analytics account, it's already selected.)
- In the Property column, select the Universal Analytics property that currently collects data for your organization on Showpass.
- In the Property column, click GA4 Setup Assistant. It's the first option in the Property column.
- Click Get started under I want to create a new Google Analytics 4 property.
- In the Create a new Google Analytics 4 property pop-up screen, you'll have one of the following options, depending on how your site is currently tagged:
-
- Create and continue. Click this button to continue to the Set up a Google tag page (step 7).
- Create property. If you see this option, this means that Analytics can reuse your existing Universal Analytics tagging for your GA4 property. Analytics will create a connected site tag between your Universal Analytics and GA4 properties. Select this option and skip to the Next steps with your new GA4 property section (below).
- On the Set up a Google tag page, select Use the Google tag found on your website and follow the instructions to finish creating your new GA4 property:
-
- Use the Google tag found on your website (Recommended)
-
- Select this option to use the Google tag detected on your website to complete setup without making changes to your site's code.
- If desired, click Details to view your tag details.
- Click Confirm to finish creating your new GA4 property.
- Users on your property will be added as users on the Google tag.
Next steps
After you're done with the wizard, you'll see "You have successfully connected your properties" at the top of your Google Analytics 4 Property Setup Assistant page.
Make a note of your GA4 property's name so you can find it later. If your Universal Analytics property name is "Example property (UA-nnnnnnn)", your GA4 property name will be "Example property - GA4 (xxxxxxx)", without a "UA-" prefix, and where xxxxxxx is a new property number.
Once your GA4 property is created and connected, continue to Add a data stream
